Will it physically work in your home?
Physical compatibility is one of the least glamorous parts of choosing a robot — and one of the easiest ways to buy the wrong one. A few millimetres can decide whether an entire room or the space under a sofa is reachable.
The useful versionMeasure the constraints that can make a robot unusable, then treat them as hard requirements.

What actually matters
A great cleaner can still be the wrong robot if it cannot get under your sofa, cross a raised threshold or fit its dock where you need it. Robot height, threshold capability, dock dimensions and the ability to cover a larger home can therefore matter more than headline suction figures.
- Robot height matters if under-sofa or under-bed cleaning is important.
- Threshold claims need context: shape, material and whether the test was a single or compound step all matter.
- Dock dimensions, battery management and room-to-room routing all affect how practical the robot feels in a bigger home.
